    Measurement of Road Traffic Parameters Based on Multi-Vehicle Tracking

    Development of computing power and cheap video cameras enabled today's traffic management systems to include more cameras and computer vision applications for transportation system monitoring and control. Combined with image processing algorithms cameras are used as sensors to measure road traffic parameters like flow volume, origin-destination matrices, classify vehicles, etc. In this paper we propose a system for measurement of road traffic parameters (basic motion model parameters and macro-scopic traffic parameters). The system is based on Local Binary Pattern (LBP) image features classification with a cascade of Gentle Adaboost (GAB) classifiers to determine vehicle existence and its location in an image. Additionally, vehicle tracking and counting in a road traffic video is performed by using Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and virtual markers. The newly proposed system is compared with a system based on background subtraction.     Real-time Detection of Road Traffic Incidents

    The paper analyses the real-time detection of incidents in road traffic. A general model is presented of an integral road traffic incident management system. The paper presents the major incident detection methods. The detection procedure on open highway sections has been dealt with in particular. Adequate mathematical model has been defined, as the base for the realisation of the estimators of the traffic flow condition variables. The proposed method is the Extended Kalman Filter. The final part of the paper deals with an example for the realisation of the Incident Management Decision Support System (IMDSS).     Two-level Evaluation of Public Transport Performances

    The focus of this paper is evaluation of public transport (PT) performances. For this purpose the focus is on quantitative performance attributes of tramway network and two levels of the evaluation analysis are defined ā€“ the micro and macro level analysis. The two-level evaluation analysis can be used to solve the problem of ambiguity in conclusions about PT performances. The ambiguity appears when the set of collected data is incomplete, misinterpreted, partially analyzed or when some background impacts are neglected. For each level of analysis a set of performance indicators is defined and their mathematical formulations are presented. The selection of indicators is based on the analysis of expected events on the PT vehicleā€™s itinerary. The applied data collection methodology, necessary for testing of proposed evaluation approach, is described and the results are presented and discussed. It has been found that for a specific case the two-level evaluation analysis can be important for the control of PT performances and transport planning.     Primjena Bluetooth detektora u analizi prometnog toka i anomalija izazvanih pandemijom CoVID-19

    Bluetooth detektori prometnog toka su uređaji koji služe za prikupljanj informacija o kretanju vozila i pjeÅ”aka kroz prometnu mrežu. Omogućavaju detekciju i praćenje vozila i pjeÅ”aka koji posjeduju neki aktivan Bluetooth uređaj. Zbog načina rada postiže se visok stupanj anonimnosti prikupljenih podataka. U radu je prikazan sustav za detekciju vozila i određivanje vremena putovanja temeljen na Bluetooth i radarskom detektoru, pomoću kojeg je moguće dobivanje statistički utemeljene informacije o broju vozila i drugih sudionika u prometu. Razmotrena je značajnost Bluetooth signala kao markera pri određivanju stanja prometne mreže i prikazani su statistički pokazatelji koji omogućavaju određivanje parametara prometnog toka. Prikazani su rezultati za jednu mjernu lokaciju u gradu Zagrebu tijekom 2019. i 2020. godine iz kojih je vidljiv utjecaj pandemije CoVID-19 na prometno opterećenje, uz dodatne specifičnosti uzrokovane potresom koji je pogodio zagrebačko područje u ožujku 2020. godine

    Advanced automatic traffic control systems and various other ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) applications and services rely on real-time information from the traffic system. This paper presents the overview and general functions of different information sources which provide real-time information that are used or could be used in ITS. The objective is to formally define the quality of information sources suitable for ITS based on formal models of the traffic system and information sources. The definition of quality encompasses these essential factors: traffic system information that exists or may be requested, user requirements and attributes that describe the information sources. This provides the framework and guidelines for the evaluation of information sources that accounts for relevant factors that influence their selection for specific ITS applications.     Floating Car Data Technology

    The limiting conditions of traffic in cities, together with the complex and dynamic traffic flows, require an efficient and systematic management and information provision for the traffic participants, with the goal to achieve better utilisation of traffic resources and preserve sustainable mobility. In that context, it is important to identify the traffic flow location features, which requires data and information. This paper presents the application of mobile vehicles for the collection of real time traffic flow data. Such data have become an important source of traffic data, since they can be collected in a simple and cost-efficient way, enabling higher coverage than the conventional approaches, despite the reliability issues. The term referring to that type of data collection, commonly used in scientific and professional literature is FCD (Floating Car Data) and ā€œProbe vehicleā€. The efficiency presentation of applying this extensive data source for retrieving necessary parameters and information related to the achievement of sustainable mobility is the final objective of this paper. A description of modern technologies that serve as a basis for probe vehicle data collection has been provided: a geographical information system (GIS), global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and related wireless communication.
